Day 3: The Cheating continues…
Today was the first day that I woke up tired (it didn’t help that I slept around midnight), but at least I only have to do this one more day this week.
I was hoping the cheater Joan wouldn’t show up for today’s class (see yesterday’s entry), but no such luck…she was just late to warm-up. Having completed the warm-up first, I watched her do the prescribed exercises as the instructor asked if she was on her third and final circuit. When she lied and said yes, it took all of my willpower not to chime in, “Actually, I was watching, and Joan’s only on her second circuit…” I don’t think she even completed the total number of required reps of the last exercise, but whatever.
During a quick water break she asked a couple of us, “Are you guys sore from yesterday?” To which I responded, “Yes, but you would be even more sore if you had completed ALL the reps yesterday."
Just kidding…that would be mean. At least, it’s much meaner than slandering her on the internet for the whole world to read, while being nothing but nice to her. It did occur to me that I should probably try to talk to Joan and get to know her as a person outside of her "miscounting,” since she does seem pretty friendly.
Nevertheless, I was relieved that she couldn’t really “miscount” on our last round of exercises since it was time-based instead of reps-based. (We had to do 3 rounds of 1 minute of deadlifts, 1 minute of box jumps, 1 minute of push-ups, and 1 minute of rest.)
Overall, I guess I haven’t pushed myself hard enough, because it was the third day in a row where I haven’t felt like throwing up afterwards (maybe I should focus more on my own exercises instead of Joan’s?). Still, I’m scared of the regular classes because I know they will be much more intense…but until then, I’ll be enjoying the rest of my on-ramp class.
I recall Nahm in Bangkok (your rec.) a great value. Delicious and memorable, but not life changing. But I doubt…
