random life update #1
Surprise surprise, I’m overdue for a blog post. In my defense, I did spend one week revamping this blog (which means I went through what felt like a million WordPress themes) and switching my web host from WordPress.com (don’t ever use them, or confuse them with WordPress.org) to Dreamhost. You may notice that there’s now a “modified date” tag on my posts, but I’ve been trying to get rid of it since I’ve needed to make formatting tweaks on old posts to better align to the theme I’m using. Either way, feedback welcome on the redesign! I’ve also been thinking about how to convert these blog posts into e-mail newsletters, so will let you all know if that ever materializes.
Other than that, work has been keeping me busy as I’ve recently transitioned to a new role. It’s been great to learn something new, but at times it can be frustrating because I feel like a complete noob. I’ve also been spending way too much time playing chess, which I guess is my version of being addicted to a video game.
I do have a few blog post ideas in the works (some more fully formed than others), and I’m hopeful that one of these makes it out of this upcoming weekend:
- fear and how it impacts us
- more on friendships…criteria, maintaining them
- how handy am I? (not very)
- OEM vs 3rd party products
One more thing I wanted to share — I’ve been listening to Unbroken on Audible, and it’s amazing. A friend recommended it years ago and I never bothered reading it, but I finally started listening to it after another friend recommended it to me as an audiobook. I would totally listen to more audiobooks if all of them were as good as Unbroken (or Born a Crime, which I still believe is the best audiobook of all time), but alas, they aren’t. It’s also possible I just need more patience and discipline, but that’s a topic for another day.
Since I don’t usually write “life update” posts I’m curious how people (which is you all) feel about them. I personally don’t prefer them, but they take a shorter time to write and I really didn’t want to go any longer without posting. Ok, that’s it for now…hope everyone enjoys the Labor Day weekend!
I read Unbroken about 9 years ago. I love WWII books maybe because my father was in the war as was my uncle. This was the last book my father read before he passed. I remember it was an amazing story.
….. I like life updates 😉
