Deep thoughts on bagels
Sometimes, watching people eat bagels makes me wonder if they were previously starved as children.
The ferocity at which people attack the bagel and cream cheese spread reminds me of the nature channel, when you see a lion or cheetah attack and tear into a herd of gazelles.
Seriously, though, I just don’t get why people like bagels — it doesn’t taste like much of anything, and consists of mostly empty carbs. I was talking about this with friends, and one of them explained, “It’s just a vehicle to eat cream cheese.” But again, cream cheese is not that much more flavorful than the bagel itself (but cream cheese frosting on cakes is another story).
So, I don’t get it. But that’s okay…to each their own, and if you like empty carbs, be my guest. It’s the same line of thinking I employ when I meet people who prefer chicken breasts to chicken thighs…somebody has to eat the tasteless part of the chicken.
This photo of a lion chasing after a gazelle reminds me of how people attack bagels and cream cheese. I took this off Huffington Post.
I recall Nahm in Bangkok (your rec.) a great value. Delicious and memorable, but not life changing. But I doubt…
